How Do Folding Beds Work?

Folding beds typically have a strong frame and a flexible mattress. The design is complemented by a spring-based mechanism, automatic legs and 360° castors. The result is a bed that folds out with just a little pressure, with the clever design and sturdy springs doing the rest of the work.

One key aspect of our folding beds is the mattress. Sometimes, customers can be concerned that the mattress will get worn down from consistent folding.

Thankfully, Happy Beds folding beds come with bespoke mattresses which are rigorously tested to ensure they can manage long-term and consistent folding.

Are Folding Beds Comfortable?

In the past, folding beds weren’t always the most reliable or comfortable. However, thanks to modern technology and advancements, a fold-out bed is just as comfortable as other types.

Our sprung slatted bases, secure foot ends and high-quality mattresses are examples of these modern improvements, and they ensure that whoever is sleeping on the fold-out bed can enjoy a restful sleep.

At Happy Beds, we have a hallmark of quality, too, so you can rest easy knowing you or your guest are sleeping in a bed that’s both cosy and practical.

What Are The Advantages Of A Fold-Out Bed?

The major advantage of a folding bed – and particularly a folding guest bed – is how much space it saves.

The majority of other guest beds stay in their position permanently, but this isn’t the case for a fold-out bed. It can be stored away for use at a later time, plus it’ll always be available should you have surprise visitors.

A folding bed may be perfect for those who move a lot, too. If you’re the type who is constantly moving from place to place for work, then a folding bed can be a cost-effective and space-efficient option.

What Types Of Folding Beds Are Available?

We stock folding beds in the following sizes:

  • Small Single (68cm x 185cm, 2'3" x 6'1")
  • Small Single (72cm x 190cm, 2'6" x 6'3")
  • Single (90cm x 190cm, 3' x 6'3")
  • Small Double (120cm x 190cm, 4' x 6'3")

  • All of these sizes are suitable for solo sleepers, while the small double can fit two sleepers.

For each of these sizes you can choose between two bed types: fabric and metal. Both types feature the same mechanism, so this choice is entirely down to your individual style.
