Thankfully, the wonderful Kerry Lockwood recently sat down with us to discuss all things interior design just in time for the sunshine filled season.
1. How would you describe your style?
“I would definitely describe it as eclectic. I love mixing the old and the new!”
2. Light or dark shades?
“I do love my dark interiors, they can just take your room and your ideas right up to the next level.
I do have a few lighter rooms in my home, it’s not all dark! So I guess I would have to say it’s a balance, maybe darker foundations with lighter streaks along the way.”
3. Which interior trend makes you shudder?
“Definitely minimalism! It makes me shudder! There’s nothing I hate more than seeing a room with just a sofa, a TV and perhaps a mirror on the wall, so dull!”
4. Modern or vintage?
“I love mixing both modern and vintage styles in order to make a space as interesting as it can be.”
“If I’m being honest, I didn’t really discover my love for fashion and interior design until I was well into my twenties.
Supermodels such as Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington were a significant influence on my personal style, I used to love watching The Clothes Show!”
6. Which people and websites do you get your inspiration from today?
“I don’t really have a number one go to for inspiration, I find it in a variety of different places, whether it’s flicking through a magazine or scrolling through Pinterest, it just happens! I do love Abigail Ahern however, and she’s one of the bloggers I make a point of keeping up to date with.”
7. What’s your finest interior achievement?
“I would probably say the rented house that we’re in at the moment. It’s always challenging when you don’t own the property as you don’t want to spend too much money when it’s not your house.
I’ve found a variety of different ways to inject my own style into the property however, and it even prompted me to start my own blog! I want to share my passion and hopefully help other achieve their own dream interior.”
“I tend to follow my heart and go for things I love rather than follow trends and that way I know I won't tire of it too easily.
But I think for 2017 greens and botanicals will still be big and mixed patterns , including wallpaper, cushions and fabric. Also lots of faux finishes including rugs, skulls and plants.
With summer quickly making its mark on us pasty Brits, adding a splash of personality to your home is equivocal to matching that attempt at a tan.
A big thank you to Kerry Lockwood for taking time out of her hectic schedule to talk with us, you can take a closer look at her work here!
