As far as Father’s Days go, this one is certainly one of the more unorthodox - some may even say restrictive, ones. Without being able to treat Dad to a day out at his favourite restaurant or for a few celebratory pints down the local, you could be left pondering how to celebrate Father’s Day 2020. Well, wonder no more!
In this post, we will be looking at some fun activities you can do with your dad, even if you can’t visit him in person.
What if you Can’t See Your Dad?
Three words. Virtual. Pub. Quiz!
The video conferencing application, Zoom, is all the rage now many of us are busy working from home. But, it’s not just limited to work purposes. A plethora of families has started using video calling apps to interact with their loved ones, no matter where they are in the world.
So, if you can’t see your dad this Father’s Day, be sure to show the love using the wonders of technology by organising a digital family quiz.
If quizzes aren’t your thing, then why not don your best costume and perfect your accent with a digital murder mystery night? They’re plenty of fun for all the family and provide an opportunity for your mind to really run wild.
Gift and Subscription Boxes
If you’ve been pondering Father’s Day gift ideas, gift boxes could be the answer. There’s nothing quite like opening a present, is there? Available from a plethora of online retailers, you could order him his very own gift box of goodies that’s chock-full of his favourite things. Ideas can include craft beer, some tasty snacks or even some hi-tech gadgets to keep him entertained.
If he adores the gift box you picked for him, why not keep the fun going by signing him up to a subscription box service? This way, he can continue to receive a similar box of treats on a regular basis. That’s certainly better than a new pair of socks!
Since we’re busy spending a lot of time at home currently, it may be worth investing in some goodies to help him relax and stay comfortable whilst we’re busy staying indoors. We have a wonderful selection of luxury sofa beds that boast maximum comfort and convenience in a range of stylish designs.
If your dad already has the sleeping space of his dreams, you could give him the gift of a perfect’s night sleep with the Panda Bamboo Eye Mask.
Breakfast in Bed
If you can see your dad this Father’s Day, be sure to start it the right way. I know it’s incredibly cliche but there are few better ways than to start the day than tucking into your favourite foods from the comfort of your own bed. Spoil him rotten by providing his favourite breakfast, whether that’s a fine bowl of granola or a hearty full English, after all, it’s his special day.
..Or a Picnic in The Garden
Whilst the outdoors may not be the most enticing of places currently, there’s no reason why you can’t have a nice relaxing meal with a change of scenery. Weather permitting, it could be a nice idea to get in the garden, get the BBQ going and soak up some Vitamin D. However, as fellow Brits, we understand that the weather isn’t always on our side.

Stick on His Fave Flick
Although it’d be super easy to stick on Netflix and watch away, where’s the fun in that? Just because we can’t go to the cinema at the moment, doesn’t mean we can’t bring the cinema home to us!
Stock up on snacks (preferably popcorn for that authentic cinema experience), drinks and perhaps even print off some fake tickets. Some may argue that’s going too far, but why not make the occasion one to remember?
...And Start the Wine Tasting
If your dad is a wine fan that is.
If not, getting him a selection of his favourite beverages will be a nice Father’s Day treat. Ales, ciders or some premium lagers. Whatever your choice, provide some old favourites with some new and exciting products to try.
You could even go on a ‘pub crawl’ and assign a beverage to be enjoyed in each room of your home. Everyone loves a beer on the sofa and a glass of wine in the bath, right?
A Day to Remember
No matter which Father’s Day gifts or activities you opt for your dad, ensure that it’s one to remember and provides him with a much-needed break from the ongoing events. Whether that’s a day of spoiling him with all of his favourite treats or a prolonged phone call, be sure to let your dad know how much you love him this Father’s Day.
