What is Napercise and How Does it Work?

When combined with the hectic nature of modern life, the thought of heading to the gym alone is enough to induce a headache.

However, a new phenomenon has arisen with the aim of combatting modern fatigue, as well as helping you actually enjoy your workouts.

What’s it called? The answer is napercise, and here’s why you should take it seriously.


What is Napercise?

After trialling in Sidcup, Kent, the classes quickly gained steam and rolled out at David Lloyd Gyms across the UK.

If you’re sat there scratching your heads, wondering what this wonderful invention could be, well it’s exactly what it says on the tin.

It’s a chance for those who are exhausted by the constant strains of modern life to get the rest they need.

The exercise section takes place in the first 15 minutes of the hour-long class and is limited to light stretching and yoga before the participants begin the ‘nap’ section of their gym session.

And yes, you did read that correctly, that’s 45 minutes of nap time. No tricks, no gimmicks, just a bed kept at optimum nap temperature for attendees to enjoy.

What’s the Purpose of Napercise?

When it comes to napercise, there’s definitely more emphasis on the ‘nap’ segment of the class.

But why? What does it do?

Well, in what appears to be a leaf right out of my book, it’s a place to promote sleep amongst adults who are struggling with the hectic, often exhausting, elements of modern life.

The classes are aimed at parents in particular (I know I will love it), but you don’t strictly have to be a parent in order to take part.

If you’re exhausted, and desperately in need for a class that prioritises rest and relaxation over the pressures of the daily grind, then napercise is what you’ve been searching for.
