A divan bed base is built with a lightweight wooden frame and then usually upholstered in a fabric such as velvet, suede or linen. There is usually a layer of wadding underneath the chosen fabric.

Many divan bed bases have castors or wheels to allow the bed to be moved around easily. Assembly is easy as the two sections of the divan frame are connected together and then your mattress is placed directly on top of the divan bed base.

It’s common for a divan bed base to include storage, although there are options without if this isn’t something you require. What is the difference between a divan bed and an ottoman?

Traditionally, ottoman beds lift to offer storage underneath the mattress, while a divan bed comes with drawers that pull out from underneath. This means an ottoman often supplies extra space, as you can use the entire bed base for storage. However, a divan with storage drawers doesn't need lifting up for access, so many see them as a more convenient option.

How big are the drawers in a divan storage bed?

Each drawer in our divan bed with drawer’s measure 53cm in depth and 22cm in height, with the width varying depending on your choice of drawers. At checkout, you can choose a mini drawer (holds up to 7kg of weight) or a standard drawer (holds up to 15kg of weight).

When picking your divan base, you can pick up to four drawers or simply opt for an end drawer that is situated at the foot of the bed.
