Frequently Asked Questions

What tips are there generally for cleaning metal Bed and Furniture?

Answer:

If your furniture features irremovable pieces of fabric, such as a chair with a padded seat, then throughout the process try to avoid getting any water with detergent on it, and simply treat the fabric with a sponge soaked in cold water at each step of the process. Most types of metal (with a few exceptions, such as copper) can be cleaned by using lukewarm water with a touch of detergent. Using a scrub brush for easily accessible areas and smaller instruments, such as an old toothbrush, for spots that are hard to reach, scrub the metal with the lukewarm water solution. Once the entire surface area has been scrubbed, wash the solution off with cold water and dry it with either a towel or a dry, soft cloth. If, throughout the process, you find any spots or areas affected by rust then treat them. Help with how to do so can be found in a separate section of this guide.

How do I clean my stainless steel Bed and Furniture?

Answer:

Stainless steel, as well as being the most common, is the simplest metal to clean. Simply wipe the surface with a cloth that’s been dampened in lukewarm water with a small amount of detergent in it.

How do I clean my aluminium Bed and Furniture?

Answer:

Create a mixture of lukewarm, mildly soapy water with a few drops of lemon juice and soak a soft cloth in it. Wring the cloth out and, when it’s slightly damp, slowly rub the surface. Once the entire surface has been covered dry it off with a dry, soft cloth. If the surface feels rough, you can swiftly polish it with a steel-wool pot cleaner. Soak the steel-wool pot cleaner in warm, soapy water, and when the water has become lukewarm give the steel-wool a bit of a squeeze (so that it’s not dripping wet) and polish the surface. To prevent the surface from getting grimy, dirty or dusty, give it a quick dry with a dry cloth. Although aluminium can’t rust, cleaning it is still important. These simple techniques can keep your aluminium Bed and Furniture looking good and shiny.

How do I clean my cast iron Bed and Furniture?

How do I clean my copper bed and furniture?

Answer:

Using products such as car paste wax can create a good barrier between the moisture in the air the metal surface. A thin coat of this will suffice, as a thick coat could attract dust.

How do I deal with rust on my metal Bed and Furniture?

Answer:

For small areas a quick and simple fix can be applying a touch of nail polish (one that’s the same colour as the metal, of course). If the area is too noticeable though you’ll need to scrape away any paint, sand down the affected area and apply a metal primer. Once this has been achieved you can apply the original colour with metal paint. Cast iron metal requires a slightly different approach though. You’ll either have to apply store bought rust remover or use sandpaper to remove the rust spots. If you opt for the later then you’ll need to seal the surface, whether it’s with paint, a sealant or a rust protector.

How do I stop my metal bed from squeaking?

Answer:

One of the most reliable fixes of a squeaking metal bed frame is to line the area between the mattress and the base and/or slats with a blanket or old clothes, such as t-shirts, and create a thin barrier between the two parts of the bed. If slats are the issue, try placing cork in the gaps between the slats that cause the squeaking and check that they are now firmly in place. There’s also a chance that uneven legs on the bedframe might be causing the squeaking, so placing a towel underneath the uneven table can solve the issue.
