What could be better than snuggling up in a cosy armchair with a nice cup of tea? Even better when that armchair is tucked away from the chaos and demands of everyday life, in the safe haven that is your bedroom. Sound heavenly? Yes, I think so too.
When updating and refurnishing our homes, the master bedroom really does deserve that extra bit of TLC. It is where we rest and recuperate after all, and one of the few spaces that is ‘just for us’.
Working an armchair into your bedroom makes the space so much more than just somewhere to lay your head. It transforms it into a place to relax and unwind, to read a book, to enjoy a cuppa, or just simply to take 5 minutes.
Not only that, it will change the overall feel of the space. An attractive, cosy-looking armchair has the potential to make a huge style statement, as well as give your bedroom a warm and homely touch.
To offer you some armchair inspiration, I (along with my fellow Interior Designer and Homebird Laura) have handpicked just a few of our Happy Beds favourites and incorporated each one into a room design. We hope you love these looks as much as we do…
Bedroom Design 1 - featuring the Bella Pink Fabric Chair
This pastel pink number works a dream in a Scandi blush and gold bedroom scheme.
Bedroom Design 2 - featuring the Hayward Grey Velvet Chair
The modern and luxurious Hayward velvet chair provides the perfect finishing touch for a dramatically dark design like this one.
HOMEBIRDS’ TOP TIP: Modern bedroom chairs like this make the ideal perch for pulling your shoes on and off! We’ve placed one in our dressing room, with a squidgy Scandi cushion.
Bedroom Design 3 - featuring the Padstow Wheat Fabric Armchair
And the French inspired Padstow chair looks right at home placed within this classic, muted ensemble.
Feeling inspired to make more of your bedroom space? I do hope so. Remember to be kind to yourself, reserve time and a space that’s just for you to relax and unwind; you deserve it.
HOMEBIRDS’ TOP TIP: To avoid your new armchair becoming a dumping ground, adorn it with pretty things that you won’t want to cover up. I am addicted to cushions and throws, and they make an armchair all the more enticing to look at and sit in!
Here’s how I’ve styled an occasional chair in my home:
